A Hallelujah Christmas

James Grayston

Most people will recognise this song which was written by Leonard Cohen in 1984 and has been performed over the years by many different artists. In this version, Christian band Cloverton, have completely changed the words and it has much more meaning to me.

This song takes us from the cradle to the cross. It tells us about that joyous night when our Saviour was born and those that came to worship him and how He would grow to die for me and you.

"I know you came to rescue me, this baby boy would grow to be a man, and would one day die for me and you. My sins would drive the nails in You, that rugged cross was my cross too.."

At this time of year it's so easy to get caught up in all the tinsel & toys and forget about the real reason for this season.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
