I have just realised that our last blog for Angola was June of last year. So much has happened over the past 6 months that has resulted in us taking our eye of our planned Angola trip and looking elsewhere. I feel a bit (just a bit mind) like Peter getting my vision impaired by the waves and the storm. Jesus said to Peter that day - "Take courage! It is I, don't be afraid". As a result of taking his advice he walked on the water - it was only when Peter was afraid that he began to sink.
The various events over the months and the significant barriers to making the trip which we discussed at our first planning meeting last night - are all the waves and the storm. We just need to fix our eyes on Jesus and take Him at His Word.
So much was discussed at our meeting last night which we need to tackle over the coming months. We plan to publish our blog each fortnight giving everyone a good summary of where we are. We have one ask of those reading this blog - that you pray and by praying support the Angola 8 in their desire to get involved in the work in Angola in a very practical way.
If you don't know anything about our planned trip and why we are going read the various blogs previous to this. It will quickly bring you up to speed. If you do know and you are just catching up the main change is our party planning to travel. Previously we expected 8 to be making the trip but unfortunately Jim Kiernan due to a back injury at work will not b able to travel. He is still very much involved in helping us plan the trip but he will look after base camp in the UK while we are away. Hence the reason why we are still calling the group The Angola 8.
So much of a trip when you are going on holiday which you take for granted will not apply when we leave for Saurimo in July. Food/Insurance/Travel plans/visa/timing and a whole lot more all need to be planned to the last detail.
Once Peter was back in the boat Jesus said to him "You of little faith, why did you doubt?". We need to trust Him - I was going to say "just trust Him" but over recent months I have found trusting is easier to say than to do.
Please keep tuned and keep praying - we can't do anything of value for God without your support in prayer.
