Focus

A broadcast from Saurimo (July 30th) -

Just a quick update for everyone in TCF, as you review what’s taking place this month in Stevenston.  I am writing from the sitting room of Brian & Debbie Howden’s house next to the school in Camundambala in Angola.  The wonders of technology!
The guys have been really busy this last week mainly helping Jonathan Singleton in the many tasks taking place with the school and village.  Tasks ranging from welding, road building and brick making to PE lessons for the school and helping with the sports facilities.
The day starts around 6.00am here when the sun rises and finishes around 6.00pm when it sets.  For this reason most are in bed about 8 to get ready for the next day.  All the meetings for the church (which meet every day at sunrise) are in the morning.  As a result of pioneer missionaries in the late 19th and early 20th century there is normally an assembly in every village.
Next week after the morning meeting we are driving south to the 2 other  mission stations Ruth Hadley is responsible for.  I think we will be out of all communications from Sunday until Wed. Evening.  We are flying home on Friday and will expect to be home on Saturday night.
We would ask you to pray that God sends more workers to Angola.  Many are going to Tanzania, Botswana and Zambia - there are simply not enough helpers in Angola to cope with the amount of work and yet the opportunities are endless.
There is no doubt that the 2 weeks will challenge all 7 of us in relation to what we see as important.  Perhaps also the visit has highlighted to the wider Christian community what God is looking to do in Angola.
